How to Measure Flighting
How To / Resources

Below is a guide to help you measure to determine the exact flighting you require for your project.

Please note measurements can be taken with a measuring tape with the exception of the thickness and the inner diameter. For those we suggest using a caliper.

Flighting Rotation

Your flighting will be either a left or right rotation. Use the diagram to determine which rotation you require. An auger from either end will show the same rotation.

Flighting Outer Diameter

Measure the total distance from the top of the flighting to the bottom. If unable to take accurate measurement, measure the inside diameter of the tube and we can help you determine the correct size for your application.

Flighting Pitch

To measure the pitch you need to measure the distance between the rounds of flighting.

Flighting Inner Diameter

Measure the outside diameter of the core running through the inside of the flighting. We suggest using a caliper to measure, instead of a tape measure, to get a precise measurement.

Flighting Thickness

Measured where the flighting meets the core. We suggest using a caliper to measure, instead of a tape measure, to get a precise measurement.
